Campus Updates
May 14, 2026
Kenneth Long has served as President of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania since November 2022, following more than two years as interim president. He brings over 35 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, with a career rooted in university administration, finance, and operations. Before assuming the presidency in 2020, President Long served as ESU’s Chief Administrative, Financial, and Operations Officer. In that role, he led efforts to stabilize the University’s financial condition—strengthening cash reserves, reducing capital debt, and improving long-term sustainability. He also expanded student health services through a partnership with a regional medical center and launched ESU’s first academic space utilization study. Under his leadership, ESU has advanced major campus initiatives focused on student success and institutional renewal. These include improvements to campus accessibility; development of an athletic master plan; significant upgrades to athletic facilities; construction of a new student housing complex incorporating counseling, testing, Title IX, and student success offices; and facilitation of land development plans for the University Center. Prior to joining ESU, President Long held senior leadership positions at Kutztown University and Cheyney University, and earlier in his career at the University of Toledo and DeVry University, where he played key roles in institutional growth and complex organizational change. President Long holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and political science from Drew University and an MBA from Monmouth University. He has taught college courses, presented nationally, and served in leadership roles with the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers, receiving its highest honor, the 2025 KPMG Distinguished Service Award. In 2024, he was appointed by Governor Josh Shapiro to Pennsylvania’s State Board of Higher Education. He and his wife, Evelyn, have three daughters: Alysha, Peyton, and Taylor. |
