Noon - "SHARE" Housing program in Monroe County
Noon - "SHARE" Housing program in Monroe County

In a nutshell, SHARE is a program of choice, that is an affordable housing oprtion that brings together homeowners who want to share their home with home seekers who are looking for housing in exchange for contribution to household expenses, help around the house, or a combination of both. The home seeker receives their own bedroom and agreed upon use of the common areas. Every arrangement is unique depending on the needs, preferences, and abilities of the participants involved.

Anyone over 18 is eligible for this program, one participant in each match must be over age 60. Each home must have a designated bedroom for the Sharer. The home Host can ask for up to 30% of the home seekers monthly income as contribution towards household expenses.

As a PA Department of Aging program, I am there throughout the arrangement, mediating and making sure all parties are in tune with each other.

This program has a very strong presence in Wayne and Pike counties; Monroe is trailing behind and we have more individuals looking for housing than any other county in PA.
