January is Vocational Service Month

"January is Rotary’s Vocational Service Month, a time to reflect on how we can use our professional expertise to make a difference.  Vocational Service is about more than applying skills; it’s about living Rotary values in our work, promoting ethical practices, and helping others grow in their careers." Rotary Service Blog

**Please see below District Governor Tim Genetti's concerns for the District.

January is known as Mental Wellness Month. Please check in on someone you haven't heard from.  Winter blues, less sunlight and post holiday fatigue take a toll on the best of us.  Send a wellness text, phone call or an invitation for a coffee/tea. Danica will be ;looking for updates to see whose life you touched.

Recap

Thank you Paul Conforti, CPA for informing us about some of the changes and challenges that the Big Beautiful Bill has in store for us for tax year 2025. You could click this link to read some of the changes regarding, "no tax on overtime", "no tax on tips", "deductions for seniors", "no tax on car loan interest", etc.

Congratulations to our newest Rotarian William "Bill" Parrish who was inducted today.  He is our newest Rotarian.  Bill was with Stroudsburgs Rotary for many years, many years ago. We welcome him back home.
Past President Stacy Rodriguez presenting Bill with his welcome packet, pin and History of the Stroudsburgs book by Rotarian Jeff Wright.

ROTARACT Students looking for Rotarian guest speaker that would like to speak at their meeting on March 17, April 7 or April 21
They are also interested in an End Polio Walk / Run this summer, which presents a great opportunity for us to work together on a meaningful cause.  We also look forward to welcoming some students to attend our meetings and engage with our club.

Valor Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
Rotarians Tiffany Lyons, Russell Little and Stacy Rodriguez attended the Valor Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at Camp Trexler. It was well attended and all the food was donated by various local businesses. The impact Valor and the leadership of Mark Baylis has with our Veterans is tremendous.  During their Christmas packing, 737 bags and boxes were completed by that Saturday and delivered. Mark stressed mental health is a big concern around the holidays and even though a Veteran may appear as if they come from money, it's not about the financial need. It's about being there for everyone especially when the holidays may be a trigger point for some. These meals represent dignity, respect and love.  Just remember you are appreciated for all you do.

Again thank you to all Rotarians that have volunteered for Valor packing, Stand Down, food donations and for the monetary donations collected and used in lieu of the World Series fundraiser.

Sponsorship Opportunity available and a way to be visible in our Community.
A fun event - Climb Pocono to End Cancer on Saturday May 16, 2026 from 8am-12pm at Big Pocono State Park.  Last year Stroudsburgs Rotary was a sponsor and our names appeared on the T-shirts.  We hope to participate again. The first 5 people to sign up will receive a shirt and are included in the cost of the sponsorship so you incur no cost.  With that being said this ignited a spark for some members to take this opportunity to support the cause even further by helping raise additional funds for the American Cancer Society, further extending their impact of service.

CALL FOR CLUB LEADERS
We are in search of committed Rotarians willing to step forward for upcoming leadership roles including President, Vice President, and Director positions. We look to maintain a 5 year period to give you the ability to understand what is entailed in leading. Each role comes with clear leadership descriptions and support to help you succeed. Those who become President-Elect receive valuable training through the District and through President-Elect Training with access to a wealth of knowledge through Club Runner and guidance of our past Presidents.  If you've ever felt a spark of curiosity about leading, serving at a higher level, or helping shape the future of our club, this is your opportunity to explore that path.  Please let a Board member know or respond to this email. We look forward to answering any questions you may have.

District Update

District Governor Tim Genetti attended and shared some concerns at our lunch meeting.  Rotary International wants to merge District 7410 into larger District. A letter was sent disputing this. The only possibility for success is that our District 7410 needs to maintain 1100 active membersAll clubs are doing their part to bring in new members who will be engaged in joining our Rotary family. DG Tim Genetti's goal challenge for Stroudsburgs Rotary is to net 6 new members.  Let's aim for 10 before March 31.  We have two new applicants, let's keep them coming.  If any Honorary Rotarians are able to become active again that would be very helpful.
