February is Peace & Conflict Prevention Resolution Month

"Today, the globe faces a series of interlocking challenges that are manifesting in violent conflict around the globe. Yet we refuse to accept conflict as a way of life."

"Rotary invests in peace education and capacity building, fosters strategic relationships, and integrates peacebuilding into all of Rotary’s programs and service.

We believe when people work to create peace in their communities, that change can have a global effect.

By carrying out service projects and supporting peace fellowships and scholarships, our members take action to address the underlying causes of conflict, including poverty, discrimination, ethnic tension, lack of access to education, and unequal distribution of resources."

Recap Feb 12, 2026

A big thank you  to Casey Stairiker & Lori Wehr representatives from the Easterseals sharing what the organization contributes to our community.
Exerpts for the website: “Easterseals is changing how America understands disability. More than 1 in 4 people in the U.S. have a disability—over 70 million people. That makes disability our largest minority group.

Disability touches everyone. The more people understand disability, the better we can build a world where everyone is valued, respected, and accepted.”

We also had the pleasure of having our Assistant Governor Mitchell Marcus address our lunch group as well as bringing a guest to potentially join our club.

Recap Evening Feb 12

the evening group had an involved conversation regarding how you fold your towels and warm socks. Juliette Caines was the most interesting as a Sean was created and Gene Prospero was acknowledged for his $25/pair socks. Which he claims are the warmest, most comfortable socks ever.

We hope everyone shared some love this weekend! It was also a beautiful day in Stroudsburg for Winterfest. The ice sculptures were melting a little faster due to the warmer weather… but I’m not complaining.

District Update

District Governor Tim Genetti attended and shared some concerns at our lunch meeting.  Rotary International wants to merge District 7410 into larger District. A letter was sent disputing this. The only possibility for success is that our District 7410 needs to maintain 1100 active membersAll clubs are doing their part to bring in new members who will be engaged in joining our Rotary family. DG Tim Genetti's goal challenge for Stroudsburgs Rotary is to net 6 new members.  Let's aim for 10 before March 31.  We have two new applicants, let's keep them coming.  If any Honorary Rotarians are able to become active again that would be very helpful.
