Some may remember that in February of this year Kim Lippincott from the Monroe County District Attorney's office spoke to us about LETI - Law Enforcement Treatment Initiative.  LETI's goal is to divert individuals with substance use disorders from incarceration for minor offenses by connecting them with appropriate treatment and recovery services.  Rotarian Bill Parish shared with us that LETI has over a 60% success rate and now the work is focused on Mental Health LETI.  If an individual is struggling with mental health challenges and based on the nature of the offence and criminal history, a mental health assessment and program may be most beneficial. Bill noted that substance abuse and mental health challenges often overlap.  He also shared that 911 brings police, fire trucks or an ambulance; when no weapon is involved and there is a mental health crisis, best to call 988.
