On Wednesday September 9, the Kick-Off meeting for the Global Grant which will benefit children enrolled in the Pre-K program at Monroe County Head Start was held at The Mountain Center.  Present at the meeting were members from our Club that will serve as the oversight committee, as well as representatives from the four other Monroe County Clubs that also provided funding. This includes the Blakeslee, Mt. Pocono, Pocono Mountain and the West End clubs. We met with Tim Lee, Executive Director, Pocono Services for Families and Children, which oversees the Head Start program. We went through key elements of the program timetable, discussed payment rules and procedures, and went through a question and answer session that enabled additional understanding of program details. We expect to receive funds from Rotary International and District 7410 shortly so we can give Head Start the go-ahead to begin purchasing computers and funding training as proposed under the grant.

Emily Heffner shared information about the services that Pennsylvania Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Department of Labor & Industry provides at the Luncheon Meeting. At the evening meeting, attendees learned about School Gardens and Nutrition Education in Haiti from Rosedanie Cadet.
