January is Vocational Service Month

"January is Rotary’s Vocational Service Month, a time to reflect on how we can use our professional expertise to make a difference.  Vocational Service is about more than applying skills; it’s about living Rotary values in our work, promoting ethical practices, and helping others grow in their careers." Recap Jan 22, 2026
Recap
Thank you, Tara Mezzanotte, for sharing with us the Coalition's continued efforts to preserve the safety and beauty of our area.  "In 2019, at the request of local officials, we launched to educate and assist those concerned with finding information regarding local community efforts to 1) help the NJDOT address ALL known safety issues of the S-curve on I-80 at the Delaware Water Gap, 2) ensure any construction in this area respects the natural beauty, historical, cultural and recreational significance, and 3) keep traffic flowing during construction. Initially, many did not fully understand the interconnectedness and complexity of the I-80/611 DWG Corridor. This changed in 2022 when 611 was closed due to a rockfall event."  This and more information can be found on the I-80/611 Delaware Water Gap Coalition facbook page.  Tara shared that we are 2-3 years out from breaking ground for 611 and the Delaware Water Gap.

President Ed Schaefer asked us to suppot Smithfields Rotary Club's 14th Annual Beer Tasting and Small Bites on March 6th 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm at Shawnee Inn.  Tickets can be purchased for $30 on this link

Also shared was a thank you note from the Salvation Army for our participation in the Red Kettle Campaign.

District Update

District Governor Tim Genetti attended and shared some concerns at our lunch meeting.  Rotary International wants to merge District 7410 into larger District. A letter was sent disputing this. The only possibility for success is that our District 7410 needs to maintain 1100 active membersAll clubs are doing their part to bring in new members who will be engaged in joining our Rotary family. DG Tim Genetti's goal challenge for Stroudsburgs Rotary is to net 6 new members.  Let's aim for 10 before March 31.  We have two new applicants, let's keep them coming.  If any Honorary Rotarians are able to become active again that would be very helpful.
