Recap June 4 Golf Tournament
Recap
Our Thursday meeting was cancelled due to our annual golf tournament.

Over 80 golfers enjoyed the greens on the golf course at the Historic Shawnee Inn. We had a picture perfect day, and the heat did creep in as the day progressed.
Attendees were generous and purchased raffle tickets to win one of the 65+ prizes, took their chance on the 50/50 to win a nice jackpot, and bought a few mulligans to compensate for that bad shot.
Again we appreciate all of our Sponsors and golfers, all of the businesses that donated gift certificates or prizes, and all of our volunteers that helped make this a huge success.
Thank you to Ken from VIP Studios for taking pictures throughout the day.
To view the professional photographs please click VIPSTUDIOSINC.COM  and click on the Galleries Tab - you will need to enter your email address

And off they go... 18 holes on the red & blue course... we'll see you for dinner and awards

Thank you to ALL of our sponsors. We couldn't have done it without you.

PASS THE HAT DONATIONS REQUESTED - Financial Request from Carl Dickerson, Dickerson Literacy Initiatives

Jessica Hillegas from East Stroudsburg. Jessica is serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Dangriga, Belize. She was attending the District Conference with Rotarians from the Dangriga Belize Rotary Club.
Leon and I attended a Rotary Project in Belize in 2009 and our Clubs and District sponsored a country-wide grant to provide dictionaries to students in all the high schools in Belize in 2011.

I coordinate Rotary-Peace Corps literacy projects in Central America. Rotary and Peace Corps have a MOU to work together on humanitarian projects.

Leon from the Pensacola Rotary is traveling to Belize June 24 through July 4 and will visit the Dangriga Rotary Club on June 29.

I am writing to ask if the Stroudsburgs Rotary Club (& Smithfields Rotary Club) would partner with the Pensacola North Rotary Club, the Dangriga Belize Rotary Club and Dickerson Literacy Initiatives to sponsor a literacy project for the school where Jessica is assigned? The project will include donating new books to the school which Leon will personally deliver to the Club on June 29. Jessica will use the books in her service in the school.

This is very short notice and is a small project. It will provide Jessica a successful project in her community before her Peace Corps Service ends in October. It will serve as a first pilot project to organize literacy projects for schools in Belize assigned a Peace Corps Volunteer. Jessica has already committed to helping us launch that project. And it will initiate a larger project to benefit the nine schools in the Dangriga District.

**The Smithfields Rotary has already committed to donating $500.  Please bring cash or a check payable to the Pensacola North Rotary Club for any amount.
