President's Corner
Greetings fellow Rotarians!

Be sure to read the full MonRotary so you don't miss out on exciting events taking place!
Last weekend many of our club members gathered at PNC Field along with other Rotarians, friends and guest to cheer on the Railriders for the Strike Out Polio Fundraiser.  Lots of laughter was shared as we spread awareness for our mission to END POLIO NOW.  Be sure to take a look at the pictures!

Our club Picnic at the Parkers will be coming up next weekend.  Reach out to the Parkers for what dish you would like to bring and if you will be coming so they can prepare!  See you then!

We are looking for volunteers for Stroudfest for Setup, Clean Up and everything in between.  This will be on August 31st.  The Bob Wehe Memorial Blood Drive and Pints and Pinot for Polio are also coming up within the next 2 months.   Speaking of the blood drive, if you plan on donating, DON'T DONATE NOW...just wait until September 9th!  We also have the opportunity to help out friends at the West End Rotary during the West End Fair (details coming soon)!  Mark your calendars now and keep your eye out each week for the MonRotary for other fun and exciting announcements!

Rotary gives us the opportunity to CONNECT with others. Why not join a committee to connect with other Rotarians and the community?  Not sure which one?  Start the conversation with your fellow members and you just might find your calling!  See  you all tomorrow!

Blessings,
Jeff Gilbert

RYLA in the HOUSE!
This week we had two of the conferees that had attended RYLA at the beginning of summer come and speak to our club about their experience.  Our very own Holley Kearn's son Connor told us about a new game that he and his group came up with and that how they taught everyone that attended the camp.  He had also said that there is more than one way to accomplish a task and that you just have to be creative.  Connor loved going to RYLA and said that if everyone attended the world would be a better place.  Teresa Harding was the other conferee that attended and she is from East Stroudsburg High School North.  Her takeaway was the word SCATTER.  This helped her make new lfielong friends very quickly.    Pictured from left to right are RYLArina Connor Kearns, President Jeff Gilbert, RYLArian Teresa Harding, District Governor Karen DeMatteo, Immediate Past Club President of Rotaract at ESU Leila Bouchekouk and RYLA Chair Amy Leiser.
Welcome to the newest Rotarians!
WELCOME to the GREATEST ROTARY CLUB IN THE WORLD!  Dave Woods from Lehigh Valley Health Pocono Foundation and Jamie Kizer from ESU were inducted to our club last week.  Be sure to meet them and share with them your story on why you became a Rotarian and why you still are!  Also, take the time to learn about them and why they wanted to become Rotarian.  Pictured are Rosemary Brown, Dave Woods, President Jeff Gilbert, District Governor Karen DeMatteo, Jamie Kizer and Jessica C. Peetz.
Back to School Collection
Rotarian Enid Logan is doing a collection for Family Promise.  They are in need of Back to School supplies to help local families.  They are primarily looking for backpacks but also, markers, crayons, pencils, notebooks and folders.  We will collect for the next 2 weeks so please bring them in or call Enid for more information 570-420-8589.
Books for the NICU
Rotarian Jessica C. Peetz is collecting hard cover and hard paged books for the NICU at Geisinger Wyoming Valley where her soon to be 4 year old stayed for 38 days after she was born.  The books can be shared amongst the families as they read to their babies and disinfected since the pages are hard.  If you are able to donate to celebrate Hailey's birthday, please let Jessica know.  She is collecting up until the end of August.  Huggs and Love!
